NO TIME TO WASTE

Waste segregation has always been blantly ignored around the world. However, COVID-19 pandemic saw a sudden surge in the amount of waste generated globally. Now with the additional awareness of infectious waste, proper segregation has become the need of the hour.
Despite government campaigns, its implementation has been a challenge due to people’s ignorance and apathy. Also, inadequate knowledge and improper handling is leading to serious risks.
So without further ado, let's take a walk through the ‘Wasteland’.
LET'S CUT
THE CRAP

AND THEY SAID...
Staying stuck to our screens while doing the research
was not an option.
So we started collecting testimonies of people around us and we realized that there is a clear communication gap between the government & the masses leading to a major lack of awareness.
Their testimonials gave us a huge insight into the daily working of this system.

OBJECTIVE
The purpose is to design a visual identity that motivates evveryone to segerate waste.
The main purpose is to redesign waste management icons making it less daunting for laymen & simplifying the information.
Standardize color codes & symbols for people to register easily and prompt user to always segregate the waste be it residential or non -residential places.
CHALLENGES
The current waste segregation system is limited to only dry and wet waste.
Failing to segregate waste properly means that it will end up mixed in landfills the same way it was mixed in your bins releasing harmful gases.
SOlUTION
With the major concern of waste segregation into consideration we have come up with simple visual design solution.
Using Standardized color codes and symbols
Annotation of the symbols on the product/packaging
Easy to spot at night.
